Injection mould transfer
A mould transfer begins with checking mould condition, machine compatibility and trial moulding results.
Moving a mould alone does not establish production conditions at a new factory. Share existing product standards, mould condition and quantities needed for the next delivery to define the review. Use this checklist when enquiring about a transfer to JTECH.
Information to prepare before sending a mould
| Material to prepare | Details to share | Why we need it |
|---|---|---|
| Product photos / drawings | Shape, size, important appearance and dimensional requirements | Establish a reference for comparing existing and newly produced parts |
| Mould information | Photos, dimensions, storage and current operating condition | Review machine compatibility and inspection scope |
| Current production conditions | Material, colour and any known existing settings | Prepare for trial moulding and resin sourcing |
| Quantity | Initial quantity, repeat orders and preferred delivery date | Plan transfer review and production |
| Finishing / dispatch | Printing, assembly, packing and destinations | Define work and delivery scope after moulding |
1. Review information and mould condition
Send product photos or drawings, mould photos and known production conditions. We review compatibility with our 150–280-tonne machines. After arrival, we inspect the mould, cooling and gate conditions. Any required repairs are discussed before mass production.
2. Confirm feasibility through trial moulding
An existing mould is not assumed to run immediately under the previous factory’s settings. Trial moulding checks the mould and product condition. We also agree inspection criteria and required finishing.
3. Agree production conditions and delivery
Based on the review, we agree resin, quantity, printing, assembly and packing, then confirm a delivery schedule. For multiple destinations, share quantities and packing requirements for each. Transfer and production lead times depend on mould condition and the current schedule.
Frequently asked questions
Should I send the mould first?
Please send product and mould photos and describe the current condition first. We will explain the information and delivery arrangements needed before inspection and trial moulding.
Can I enquire about a mould that has been stored for a long time?
Yes. Share when it was last used and its storage conditions. Feasibility and any repairs can only be confirmed after inspection.
Are transfer costs and lead times fixed?
They depend on condition, inspection and repair needs, quantity, finishing and the production schedule. We review these before quoting a cost or lead time.
