Hanger logo printing: hot foil, pad and woodblock methods

For hanger logos, consider hot foil for a glossy single colour and pad printing for ink-based colour.

By JTECH Co., Ltd.Published Updated

How does hot foil stamping work?

Hot foil stamping uses heat and pressure to transfer metallic-looking foil onto the hanger surface.

It is often used for reflective gold or silver logos. Foil printing and hot stamping generally refer to the same process. As one foil colour is applied at a time, it suits single-colour logos.

Gold or silver foil contrasts strongly with black or brown hangers. Very fine lines and small lettering should be checked at the artwork stage to avoid losing detail.

When is pad printing suitable?

Pad printing is used for ink-colour logos or printing on curved surfaces.

A flexible silicone pad picks up ink from a plate and transfers it to the product. It conforms to the surface, allowing printing on curved areas such as hanger shoulders.

It is a starting point when a logo needs a specified brand colour. The hanger base colour can affect the result, so check how white or light ink will look on a dark hanger during artwork review.

How is woodblock printing different?

Woodblock printing transfers a logo from a carved printing block; suitability depends on the logo and hanger.

JTECH offers hot foil stamping, pad printing and woodblock printing. Our team checks logo size, line thickness and hanger model before advising whether woodblock printing is suitable.
